What’s going on? Is there a flaw with my weight loss efforts?

So basically, I’ve been trying to lose weight for the last 3 months. I’m a 20 y/o female who could stand to lose 50lbs — I’ve always been on the heavier side. I put together a new lifestyle in order to help me slim down, but it seems to be rather slow — just under 5lbs lost in 3 months. At this rate, it’d take years for me to reach a healthy weight. How can I improve?
Sample menu:
Breakfast: whole wheat english muffin w/ peanut butter & banana
snack: yogurt
Lunch: whole wheat wrap w/ tuna, cheese, bell peppers
snack: apple w/cinnamon
Dinner: salad w/ grilled chicken & a cup of milk
snack: orange or a cup of mixed berries
As far as exercise goes:
- 30mins on treadmill 3x a week. (heart rate gets to 140-150)
- 2 mile leisurely walk 4x week (w/ friend or for school purposes)
- 20mins strength training 3x a week (day in between each session)
* I drink 5-8 bottles of water a day (I only drink water)
* I’m semi vegetarian (haven’t eaten red meat for 2 yrs now)
* I am not taking any medications or supplements.
I did feel more energetic the first month and a half after I adopted this lifestyle, but now I’m back to feeling very “blah”. It’s very distressing to not see any real results (I haven’t lost inches either). What can I change to start feeling better and to start losing the lbs?
The 5lbs came off after around 2 months of effort… nothing since.
Hey, good luck with your weight loss
!! Hopefully I can lose 20lbs soon too.
The greatest trick to fat loss fast is to have more than 3 servings per 24h. Take a look at my source to learn more.
Your lifestyle seems pretty great. The only thing I can think of is that it may be too much of a rutine. You need variety. Those 5pounds you lost were probably all in the first couple of weeks of the change, and then you hit the plateu effect. I highly reccomend p90x, or if you r not ready for that do p90 first and you will c results in so many aspects such as balance, strenghth, coordination, cardiovascular, flexibility, and mental.
wow that is very strange!! i just recently lost 20 pounds in 2 months and it sounds like you have away healthier diet then me
this is what i do
i am 17 so we are only 3 years apart
oh and also i want to lose around 50 more pounds
-i eat whatever i want i just do portion control
- usually around 1200 calories a day
then for exercise i jog 1 mile and walk 1 mile 6 maybe 7 days a week
thats it for me and it works like a charm..ui also will do push ups and sit up when i have aspare minute!
