I’m currently deployed right now working the night shift from 3PM until midnight. So I really only have time for two meals a day at the most. I working hard to lose weight while I’m here and to get my body into shape. I currently run about 5 miles everyday on a cross trainer and work on my abs, bu the last thing I want is to lose the weight, only to have it sky rocket back up once I get home because my body isn’t used to having three meals a day.
honestly, I have the best luck with 6-8 smaller meals (and a meal may be a glass of 1% organic milk). I work at a desk all day and have oatmeal, peanut butter, dried nuts and fruit, Cliff/protein bars, etc in a drawer as my meals. At night I have something very high in fiber as my last meal as your body has to work harder to digest it. The trick is keeping your metabolism going…and smaller, more frequent meals does this.
That said, is there any way you can keep portable meals with you at work (fruit, nuts, protein bars)?
So concentrate on lifestyle change. Who says you absolutely have to have three big meals a day? On your days off, eat light that extra meal. Keep up the good work with the trainer, and congratulations on your current success. You will do just fine, live to 95 and die a happy man.
The best way to have a high metabolism (and the only way) is to
1) Eat 5-6 small meals a day
2) Always have breakfast
Sorry but your method won’t work.
Fuel>>>fat burning
No Fuel>>>no fat burning, shutdown of metabolism (this happens whenever you’re running on empty or after 5 hours of no eating.
Think of your stomach as an oven… you need fuel to burn and you need it every 3 hours in order to maintain a high metabolism. Don’t ever go without food for 5 hours or more, this will shut down your metabolism.
Get on Biotin and Niacin. It speeds up your metabolism. All of the B vitamins will work. Cayenne Fruit is good too. I usually don’t take these-but when I do (three time a week) I have much more energy. Working the swing shift can be very hard on ones body as well. I used to do that and then I found out that is the worst shift anyone can work-since your body is trying to figure out what is going on. We are built to work during the daylight hours-orginally. Don’t eat anything 2 hours before you go to bed. Through that “don’t eat after 7pm bull****” out of the door. That only works if you go to bed REALLY early. Have more healthy snacks during your day (or night). Take an apple to work or an orange. Don’t eat 3 HUGE meals a day. Americans are accustumed to having HUGE meals and that is why most Americans are overweight and obese. Eat smaller portions and try to snack before you go to work. My mom works the same shift and she gets to bed around 12:30am and up at 8-9am. Try to eat breakfast everyday even if you are not a breakfast person. Eat whole grains too. Remember to “Shop the walls” when you go grocery shopping. Bread, fruit, veggies, milk, eggs, lunch meats, etc. Stay away from processed food like mac and chesse etc. Get enough sleep. It may be hard for you to keep up your metabolism if you are working the swing shift. Are you used to working the day shift? If yes, do your best to find a 1st shift job. Our bodies have a natural clock in them. I found out that 5-6am is the perfect time for me to wake up. If I sleep past that, I am sluggish all day long. Drink plenty of water. If you don’t like water- mix 1/2 water with 1/2 soda and slowly decrease the amount of soda in the water until you get used to water alone. Our cells in our bodies crave water and when they get it, you will feel a difference! Hope this helps!
