Over the past four months, I have lost 27 pounds. I have had no symptoms of any kind. My doctor now wants me to keep a detailed record of my diet. All tests have been negative. I am a 40-year-old man. I am very active and play organized basketball three times a week for about 90 minutes. I have explained to my doctor that I cannot continue to lose weight and maintain my strength. I have started using Ensure, a high-calorie liquid meal replacement. Any suggestions on the cause?
All tests negative – blood, stool, even a sigmoidoscopy of the bowel. I really believe my doctor thinks I am not eating, hence the diet logbook he requested.
Parasites might be the answer. Having worms makes you loose weight v. quick
thyroid, GI blood loss would be two on top, I am sure your doctor is repeatedly asking you questions for any new symptoms that would tailor further testing, hang in tight, keep up with ensure, consider EGD to rule out sprue, fecal parasite test to rule out parasite infestation etc too, good luck
