Fat Loss 4 Idiots is a popular on-line dieting system.  Does it really work?

HOW IS THE DIET SUPPOSED TO WORK?

The Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet is based on an idea called “calorie shifting”.   Calorie shifting distributes your daily intake of food into smaller, more frequent meals.  You are told to eat 5-6 smaller meals in place of 3 heavy ones.  By doing this, they say, you store less fat and use up the fat you have.

The Fat Loss 4 Idiots site points out how calorie shifting is different than traditional diets (low fat, low carb, and low calorie).  

Low calorie diets stop working very fast, they say, because your body responds by lowering its metabolism.  With a slowed down metabolism, you cannot lose fat.

Low fat diets would work if people ate the same amount of the low fat product as the regular product – but often they end up eating more of the low fat version.

And low-carb diets are not a good idea, they say, because they produce such strong cravings that it is very difficult to stick to the diet.

The Fat Loss 4 Idiots idea is to have you consume a normal healthy amount of calories (this way your metabolism doesn’t slow down) and a normal healthy number of fats and carbs (so you do not get uncontrollable cravings.)

DOES IT ACTUALLY WORK?

The Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet program is an extremely effective method to lose weight, IF you are committed to following the plan.  One of the biggest reasons diets don’t work is because people stop following the programs a couple of days in.  This happens where the diet is too complex or overly restrictive.

Second, if you think you may require a live coach to motivate and push you, this diet is not for you.  The diet is presented simply and is easy to follow but it is not the same as a live coach.  If you think you may need a coach, Jenny Craig or a similar system is the way to go.
